CCA representatives from the Ministry of Education (MOE) visited the Emirates College of Technology (ECT) on February 10 -14, 2019 for an Initial Accreditation of Bachelor of Sciences in Medical Diagnostic Imaging, Healthcare Management, and Medical Laboratory Sciences.
The CCA was chaired by Prof. Robert Burke, Professor Emeritus, Health Policy and Management- George Washington University-Washington DC, USA; and membership of Prof. Janice Conway-Klaassen, Rohwer Chair in Medical Technology Medical Laboratory Sciences -University of Minnesota -Minnesota, MN, USA; Prof. Maryann Hardy, Professor of Radiography and Imaging Practice Research, University of Bradford -Bradford, UK; Dr. Jason Oakley, Associate Dean of Students, Faculty of Science- University of Portsmouth – Portsmouth, UK; Prof. Bernardo Ramirez, Executive MHA Program Director, College of Health and Public Affairs -University of Central Florida-Orlando, Florida, USA; Dr. Alan Wainwright, Executive Head of Education -Institute of Biomedical Science, London, UK; and the Commissioner – Prof. Stephen Arkle – Commission for Academic Accreditation, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The visiting team and ECT senior management discussed avenues of mutual cooperation which included coordination on issues like academic accreditation, Quality Assurance; Student Services; Academic Research; Finance and Administrative Affairs; Human Resource; and Community Outreach; and ECT’s access to MOE’s resources. They also outline the importance to maintain the highest level of quality in all ECT operations.
The ERT also held discussions with the President of ECT, Prof. Abdul-Rahim Sabouni, the Provost Prof. Ghassan Al-Qaimari, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer Dr. Wesam Alanqar, and Deans of the ECT. The particulars of the academic meetings were on key institutional and academic substances for an Initial Accreditation of Bachelor of Sciences in Medical Diagnostic Imaging, Healthcare Management, and Medical Laboratory Sciences.
In the exit meeting, there was an overview of the key findings of the ERT; and a successful discussion was made between senior management of ECT and the ERT accordingly. During this exit meeting, the Commissioner presented an overview of the next steps for the College as part of the accreditation process. And Finally, A brief final remarks were presented by ECT senior officers.
